Dear Parents,

Baker County Literacy’s Program has recruited ten parent/community members to volunteer at Haines School.  Kudos goes to Jim Tomlinson for spending time to contact these people.

When parents and community get involved in a child’s education, good things are found to happen.  Families and community working in close partnerships with teachers can have a measurable impact on a child’s academic achievement.  It makes the job much easier for everyone – teachers, parents, guardians, and students themselves.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact myself or Jim Tomlinson at 541-519-4740. 

Homework club will be beginning on October 3rd from 3:00 to 3:45 pm.  It will only be on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  This year there will be no bus available for homework students.  If you wish to have your child attend homework club you will have to provide their transportation home.  If you have any questions please call Sandy Moore at the Haines School.  


If you haven’t returned your student form for a t-shirt, please get them in by TOMORROW, SEPTEMBER 27TH.   If you lost your order form, please call Mrs. Hatfield in the office at 541-524-2400.  We would like to get them ordered so the new students can start wearing them. Thank you for your cooperation. 


eScrip is a hassle-free way for schools and groups that support children’s programs to raise funds through everyday purchases made at Safeway and eScrip merchants.

eScrip and merchant partners have created a system that rewards customer loyalty by contributing a percentage of purchases to Haines School. 

Parents, teachers, friends and families are encouraged to register their credit, debit and grocery club cards as supporters with the eScrip program.  Upon receipt of registration, a percentage of all purchases made at eScrip merchants (Safeway) will be given back to the Haines School PTCO.

Simple registration:

·         Log on to and go to “sign up”

·         Designate the Haines School PTCO to receive contributions.  Our group ID # is 8562908

·         Register your grocery club card from Safeway and your debit/credit cards.

That’s it!  Visit eScrip merchants to shop and earn.

You should have received a student handbook at registration.   Please take time to read and discuss the handbook with your child.  If you did not get one please contact the Haines Office at 524-2400.  Also on the last page of the Handbook is a page to sign and return to the school as soon as possible.  We thank you in advance for your cooperation.


Students grades K through 6th will be going on a field trip to Mike and Coral Widman’s ranch for Agricultural Day.  They will leave the school at 11:00 and return approximately at 2:30 pm.  The Widman’s will furnish lunch for all the students.  A field trip release form was sent home last week.  Please make sure they have been returned to the school by Tuesday morning.  Students will not be allowed to go without permission.

Kerns’ potato trucks will be going by the school starting this week.  If your child walks to and from school, please make sure they use sidewalks and watch carefully before crossing streets.


The first Family of the Month lunch is scheduled for this Wednesday, September 28th.  Grandparents and family are welcome to come to lunch with their child and Mrs. Bigelow.  The cost of lunch for adults is $3.00.  Lunch for the day is lasagna with garlic bread and salad/fruit bar.  


Bible Release will begin on Tuesday, October 11th.  If your child wishes to go, there are forms in the front hallway by Mrs. Hatfield’s office.  They must have a form filled out before they can attendliknij tutaj, aby edytować.
